Sherry Ann McGregor
An attorney-at-law since 1999 and Director of JN General Insurance since 2015, Sherry Ann McGregor has more than two decades of experience in family law, civil and commercial litigation, alternative dispute resolution and insurance litigation.
Ms McGregor is a Partner in the Litigation Department of Nunes Scholefield DeLeon & Co since 2006, and was previously an Associate in the same law firm from 2000 to 2005. Additionally, she was a tutor in Civil Practice and Procedure (family law) from 2008 to 2013.
She served the Jamaican Bar Association in the capacity of President, 2016-2017; Vice President, 2014-2016; Treasurer, 2013-2014; and Assistant Treasurer, 2012-2013. From 2016 to 2018, she was one of the representatives of the Jamaican Bar Association on the Council of Legal Education that governs the law schools in Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and the Bahamas. Additionally, she was the Chairman of the Legal & Ethical Sub-Committee of the National AIDS Committee in Jamaica from 2007 to 2009.
For more than 15 years, Ms McGregor authored Laws of Eve, a weekly column in the Flair Magazine of The Gleaner that explores matters of legal interest. She has also presented at various seminars on legal matters.
Since 2008, she has been a Director of EdgeChem Jamaica Ltd. She was a director of the Dispute Resolution Foundation (Jamaica) from 2014 to 2018.
She holds membership on The University of the West Indies (UWI) Research Ethics Committee; The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ) Corporate Governance Index Review Committee; and was a member of the Corporate Governance Committee, PSOJ from 2017 to 2018, and the Board of Management, Wolmer’s High School for Girls from 2010 to 2015.
A Supreme Court certified mediator and member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Ms McGregor completed a Bachelor of Laws (LLB.) (Upper second class honours) from the UWI in 1997, and a Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School in 1999.
